Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog!
My name is Natalee Urbon. I am a 22-year-old student at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Go Lakers!💙I will be graduating in December of 2026 and have many ambitious goals I dream of achieving. This blog is just the beginning of it all. But first, who am I?
I am a positive, passionate young woman who cares deeply about others. Many would describe me as joyful, and the joy I have is not something I want to keep to myself. This joy comes from my relationship with the Lord and his transformative power in my life. With this being said, as college graduation is creeping up on me, I want to begin taking steps to advance in my future career. I would love to spend some time working at a church before I launch my own ministry where I help others better understand the Bible and its application to our lives.
In school, I am majoring in Communication Studies and receiving a certification in Digital Media. I chose to take this path because I knew it would easily transfer to my desire to work in vocational ministry. Eventually, I would love to receive my master’s degree in Biblical Studies. This would all work together to allow me to launch my own ministry so I can teach others the importance of biblical literacy and relationship with Jesus. But ultimately, all of this ties into public relations, especially since the sector of vocational ministry I want to work in is digital media and public relations.
Digital media is greatly impacting the world today. The average American spends around 7 hours a day on devices and two and a half hours on social media specifically. For some, this number is much greater. While social media can be a source of comparison, anxiety, and stress for many, it is my mission to be the light. I want to spread the joy I have beyond myself and my community. I want to leave a positive impact on the world and inspire others to be a light in their communities while being boldly authentic to themselves.
Before attending Grand Valley State University, I decided to take two gap years. During the first gap year, I worked to make money so I could go through a program that would give me skills to become a missionary in a foreign nation. After I made enough money, I moved to Kona, Hawaii to go through the lecture phase of the program. I learned about cross-cultural communication, diversity, and inclusion. I also learned how to appreciate differences while understanding how similar individuals truly are. Furthermore, in Christ, we are united into one family despite different languages, geographic locations, and secondary opinions. After living in the Middle East for three months, I deeply appreciate the differences of every individual. As I take baby steps into my career, I take these lessons I learned with me so I can communicate with a diverse audience.
I also have a background in pageantry. After spending nearly three years in this realm and even placing First Runner-Up at Miss Michigan 2025, I understand the importance of leadership, service, and sisterhood. It also taught me skills in public speaking. During my years of service, I have spent many hours volunteering, fundraising for initiatives, and investing in a community of women who are on a mission to impact the world. All of this has contributed to my heart to be a role model, sister, and friend to each individual I meet while serving the people around me. This is my heart as I begin my blog and venture into the path of vocational ministry, public relations, and digital media.
While these experiences have shaped me personally into the woman I am today, my life as a student has greatly impacted me professionally. Over the course of three years, I have become skilled in branding, social media strategy and management, strategic and effective communication, digital media advertising and marketing, and public speaking. These skills are crucial because I will need them to help businesses and individuals leave a positive impact on the people they influence.
There are many ways I approach communication with others. I love storytelling, relationship building, and advocacy. I find myself engaging with these forms of communication frequently. Authentic storytelling can become a powerful tool to help individuals to grasp your vision. Building relationships is vital as we cannot progress movements and impact without them. Lastly, I love using advocacy to serve others and be a voice for many who feel they do not have one. At the forefront of everything I do, my goal is to build community, represent others well, and spread messages of purpose and hope.
Why have I decided to create this blog? What is my purpose? Here’s my why:
My mission is to use strategic communication and digital media to spread joy, build communities of belonging, and advocate for causes that will make meaningful impact.
While I am currently a student and in the beginning stages of my professional career, I am also driven, passionate, energetic, and bold. The skills I have developed are incredibly important in the digital media, public relations, and even ministry setting. They allow me to connect with diverse audiences while fostering authentic connections and leaving a legacy. By the time I get to the end of my career, I want to be known as the woman who put others above herself, chose to strengthen communities, and amplified the voice of the voiceless while effectively helping expand their cause. Digital media and public relations is the vessel for this great mission.
Every week, I hope to find you here to learn tangible skills in digital media and public relations. But more than that, you will learn how to live on a mission to leave a positive impact. I hope this blog inspires you to live boldly in who you were created to be, to always give a helping hand, and to do everything with joy and love.
